Thomas J. Corcoran, Jr.

Thomas J. Corcoran, Jr., chairman of the board of FelCor Lodging Trust, is the 2008 chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the largest trade association representing the U.S. lodging industry.

In 1991, Corcoran co-founded FelCor, Inc., one of the nation's largest hotel real estate investment trusts (REITs) and the nation's largest owner of full service, all-suite hotels. In 1994, FelCor went public with six hotels and a market capitalization of approximately $120 million as a REIT under the name FelCor Suite Hotels, Inc. In 1996, the Company listed on the New York Stock Exchange as FCH and in July 1998, changed its name to FelCor Lodging Trust Incorporated. Corcoran served as president and CEO of FelCor from 1991 to 2006, until his appointment as chairman in February 2006.

FelCor is the nation's largest owner of upper upscale, all-suite hotels, comprised of 85 consolidated hotels and resorts, located in 23 states and Canada. FelCor's portfolio consists mostly of upper upscale hotels, flagged under global brands such as Doubletree®, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton®, Renaissance®, Sheraton®, Westin® and Holiday Inn®. FelCor maintains an enterprise of approximately $3.1 billion.

Corcoran's long history of management in the lodging and foodservice industry began with Brock Hotel Corporation in Topeka, Kan. During his 11 years with Brock, Corcoran's roles in the company included president and CEO and a member of the board of directors for Chuck E. Cheese Entertainment, Inc.

An active and long-time supporter of AH&LA, Corcoran serves as co-chair of the association's Industry Real Estate Financing Advisory Council, and is the vice chair of the Political Action Committee. In addition, he is on the board of trustees for the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF). Corcoran is active in other industry associations, and his board appointments include: Chairman of Embassy Suites' Advisory Council to Hilton Hotels; and Chairman Elect and Secretary/Treasurer of the board of the International Association of Holiday Inns.

Corcoran is a graduate of Washburn University, where he received a Juris Doctorate degree. A native of Clay Center, Kan., Corcoran resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife Kathy. They have two sons and one daughter.
