ADA Drive-By Lawsuits Legislation Introduced in Congress

HL

This week, Congressman Ted Poe (TX-2) reintroduced the ADA Education and Reform Act. As a reminder, this legislation addresses the nefarious practice of drive by lawsuits filed under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by providing a notice and cure provision that would give business owners time to address an ADA violation before any legal proceedings can move forward. AHLA, and a coalition of business organizations, has been working with Congress to ensure legislation is in place to protect businesses from this growing trend.
