Please mark your calendars for the 43rd Bryce Harlow Foundation Annual Awards reception and dinner which will be held on April 17, 2024 at the Marriott Marquis in the Marquis Ballroom on level M2. As usual, the reception will begin at 6:00pm followed by a seated dinner from 7:00-9:00 pm.  Dress code is business attire.

We are pleased to announce our honorees: Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) will be receiving the Bryce Harlow Award.  Dan Tate, Co-Founder of Forbes Tate Partners, will receive the Business Government Relations Award.

Bryce Harlow Award – Senator Lisa Murkowski

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) was selected to receive the prestigious Bryce Harlow Award, which honors an elected official whose career is built on championing the principles of integrity, dedication and professionalism — echoing the work and life of the late Bryce Harlow. Murkowski is Alaska’s senior U.S. Senator, is a third generation Alaskan proudly serving as the first Alaskan born senator.  She was appointed in 2002, elected to a full six-year term in 2004, re-elected in 2010 in a historic write-in campaign, re-elected in 2016 and re-elected for another six-year term in 2022.  Murkowski is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, is Ranking Member of the Interior-Environment Subcommittee, member of Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.  Known for her ability to work collaboratively and across the aisle to reach common sense solutions, Murkowski is a leader on energy and public lands issues, recognizing that sound national policy will promote job creation and economic growth, and higher standards of living and greater global stability. She holds both an Economics Degree from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Willamette College of Law. Prior to serving in Congress, Murkowski was a commercial law attorney in Alaska Murkowski was born in Ketchikan and raised in towns across the state, including Wrangell, Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage. She is married to Verne Martell and they have two grown sons.

Business Government Relations Award – Dan Tate

Dan Tate, Co-Founder of Forbes Tate Partners, will receive the Bryce Harlow Business-Government Relations Award, which is given annually to a leader in government advocacy in recognition of an exemplary career in the profession.  Prior to starting Forbes Tate Partners with Jeff Forbes, Dan spent twelve years in private practice in both large and boutique firms working with clients. He also served in the Clinton Administration for three years as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs – and was a key member of the White House team responsible for developing and implementing the Clinton Administration’s legislative agenda on trade, energy, environment, telecommunications, transportation, and financial services issues. While working with Members of Congress from across the political spectrum, Dan was President Clinton’s liaison to Democratic and Republican moderates in Congress – working particularly closely with the New Democrats and the Blue Dogs. Prior to his work at the White House, Mr. Tate served for two years as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy, where he was a chief strategist and advocate for the Secretary of Energy and the Department with the U.S. House of Representatives. There, Dan developed and implemented the Agency’s legislative agenda on electricity policy, environmental remediation, and national security priorities.  Dan began his career on the Hill on the legislative staff of Rep. W.J. “Billy” Tauzin (D-LA).  A native of Georgia, Dan graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife and their two children.
