Washington, D.C. – November 2, 2017 –  President and CEO Katherine Lugar of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) issued the following statement with today’s release of the tax reform plan from Congress.

“We are pleased Congress has taken the next step towards reforming U.S. tax policies and creating a pro-growth tax environment that will benefits the hotel and lodging industry and its employees, and provide Americans with more disposable income that will contribute to our nation’s economic growth. AHLA believes that enacting smart and effective tax reform allows for growth, competitiveness and entrepreneurism for individuals and businesses. With three out of every five hotels run by small business owners, it’s important to foster smart policies that enable continued job growth in our sector which is responsible for some 8 million jobs.

We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration before the proposal becomes law to ensure that the final details support continued growth for the hotel industry, the real estate sector, and the broader economy.”
