LODGING INDUSTRY PRESSES CONGRESS FOR CHANGE IN HEALTHCARE LAW'S FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE DEFINITION

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the U.S. lodging industry, has submitted a statement to the House Ways and Means Committee on the need to change the current definition of a full-time employee in the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

 

The statement will be included as part of the official record for today's hearing, The Impact of the Employer Mandate's Definition of Full-Time Employee on Jobs and Opportunities, convened by Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI).

AH&LA CONVENING INDUSTRY TASK FORCE TO ADDRESS 9-1-1 CALLS FROM HOTEL GUESTROOMS

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) is creating an internal task force comprised of key industry leadership to develop recommendations in response to the issues raised in the petition, Help Enact Kari's Law. The task force members, representing a cross-section of the lodging industry, will be drawn from among those who own and manage lodging properties across the country, as well as members who have expertise in information technology and security.

HOTEL INDUSTRY: CONGRESS MUST REAUTHORIZE TRIA PROGRAM

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the U.S. lodging industry, thanks Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) for convening today's bipartisan panel discussion on the need for reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and urges Congress to take immediate action to do so.

AH&LA TAPS SENIOR CONGRESSIONAL STAFFER FOR ADVOCACY TEAM

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) announces the appointment of Brian Crawford, currently chief of staff to Florida Congressman Tom Rooney (R-17), as vice president of governmental and political affairs. He will join the staff on February 3.

In this role, Crawford will support the association's increased advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and with key administration policymakers, with a focus on labor and workforce issues. He also will provide strategic support for the association's political action committee, HotelPAC.
