WASHINGTON (February 4, 2020) – The following is a statement from Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, in response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

“Tonight, President Trump laid out his agenda to continue growing America’s economy, seek bipartisan solutions for immigration reform, and strengthen our national security. Hotels have been a key driver of economic growth, supporting 1 in 25 jobs and adding $660 billion to U.S. GDP.

Chicago, Illinois (January 31, 2020) – Building on a wave of events throughout National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, the hotel industry is continuing the fight to end human trafficking in Chicago by joining forces with Governor J. B. Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who today are convening lawmakers, local partners, law enforcement and leading experts ahead of the NBA Basketball All-Star game.

LOS ANGELES (January 26, 2020) – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the newly rebranded American Hotel & Lodging Foundation (AHLA Foundation) announced the top hotel employees across the country, culled from more than 300 nominations across every company and numerous career pathways. The 2020 Stars of the Industry Awards are the industry’s highest honors revealed each year at second annual “Night of a Thousand Stars” Gala, the Foundation’s premier fundraiser. The event raised a record total of over $700,000 to support its mission.
