AHLA, IHLA APPLAUD PASSAGE OF BILL REQUIRING EMPLOYEE SAFETY DEVICES FOR HOTEL EMPLOYEES

(August 13, 2019) – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today commended Governor Pritzker for signing the Hotel and Casino Employee Safety Act included in SB0075 the Workforce Transparency Act, which includes anti-sexual harassment policies and provides employee safety devices to hotel associates.

DES MOINES, Iowa (August 13, 2019) – Today, Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Joni Ernst are partnering the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) to raise awareness across the state for a unified approach to combatting human trafficking. As part of this effort, they will join the hotel industry for a human trafficking prevention training session with hotel employees at the Holiday Inn Mercy Campus in Des Moines.

WASHINGTON (July 24, 2019) – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) commended Senators Steve Daines (R-MT) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) on their bill aimed at protecting millions of travelers by putting an end to deceptive marketing practices by third-party hotel booking sites. Fraudulent and misleading hotel booking transactions have negatively impacted 28.5 million hotel stays and cost consumers $5.2 billion in 2017 alone.

HOTEL INDUSTRY UNITES ON NEW CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

WASHINGTON (June 26, 2019) – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today launched a new national campaign to unite the industry around a single, comprehensive approach to fight human trafficking. The No Room for Trafficking campaign builds on the hotel industry’s long-standing legacy and commitment to combat human trafficking. Already each year, thousands of hotel employees are trained. With this campaign, AHLA builds on the industry’s record by convening the entire industry with the goal of training every hotel worker.
