Washington, D.C. – May 17, 2016 – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) will join forces on May 17-18 with more than 500 hoteliers from across the country for a joint hospitality day on Capitol Hill. During the associations’ two-day Legislative Action Summit (LAS), hoteliers will come together to raise awareness with Congressional leaders about the strength of the lodging industry and its meaningful impact on communities around the country. 

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 10, 2016 – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today released a new study that provides a detailed analysis of the rise in commercial activity taking place in Chicago on Airbnb, one of the most trafficked short-term rental websites. The study was conducted by John O’Neill, MAI, ISHC, Ph.D., professor of hospitality management and director of the Center for Hospitality Real Estate Strategy in the School of Hospitality Management at Penn State University, and examined activity on Airbnb between October 2014 and September 2015. 

Orange Beach, AL – May 6, 2016 – U.S. Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) today toured the Perdido Beach Resort as a part of an AH&LA-hosted “Heart of the House” hotel tour program. The program aims to connect members of Congress with local hoteliers and their employees, helping to build those personal relationships and allowing congressional leaders to hear from employees directly on how the hotel industry fosters job creation, economic growth and community development.

The program allows members of Congress to get a behind-the-scene look at the industry and learn about the growth, opportunity and positive economic impact the hotel sector provides to communities.

Washington, D.C. – April 28, 2016 – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) applauded the passage of an AH&LA-backed amendment out of the House Armed Services Committee that would repeal the per diem rate cuts instituted by the Department of Defense for uniform and civilian employees on long-term travel, or temporary duty (TDY), in December 2014. The amendment would restore the per diem rates to the reasonable levels they were at before the cuts.
