AH&LA APPLAUDS FTC ACTION TO ALERT CONSUMERS ON ROGUE ONLINE BOOKING SITES

(Washington, July 16, 2015)  - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today welcomed action by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alerting consumers about deceptive online hotel booking sites, which trick consumers into thinking they are booking directly with the hotel. The agency posted two blogs (see links below) about these deceptive practices, warning consumers of this growing problem and offering advice on how to avoid scams.

AH&LA: DOL OVERTIME RULE HAMPERS GROWTH; JOB FLEXIBILITY

WASHINGTON (June 30, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today issued the following statement on the Department of Labor's (DOL) proposed rule to raise the threshold of overtime pay for salaried employees working over 40 hours per week from $23,660 to $50,440.

AH&LA APPLAUDS ENTIRE FLORIDA CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION FOR URGING FTC TO OPEN INVESTIGATION INTO ONLINE BOOKING DECEPTIONS

(Washington, June 10, 2015) -  The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today praised the Florida Congressional Delegation after they sent a letter to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairwoman Edith Ramirez urging the agency to immediately open an investigation into companies deceptively targeting consumers with misleading online hotel websites. The letter was signed by all 27 Members of the delegation.
