AH&LA STATEMENT ON FCC PETITION

(Washington, D.C.  January 30, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) issued this statement following withdrawal of its petition before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for rulemaking to Interpret 47 U.S.C. § 333, or, in the Alternative, for Rulemaking; RM 1173. HOTEL INDUSTRY APPLAUDS COMMISSIONER PAI, REP. GOHMERT ON 911 DIRECT DIAL LEADERSHIP

January 23, 2014) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today applauded Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai and Representative Louie Gohmert (TX-01) for their leadership and partnership with the hotel industry in implementing 911 direct dial capabilities. The hotel industry and AH&LA, the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, have been working closely with both offices on this issue.

More than 400 Members of Employer Community Send Letter to Senate Supporting Restoration of a 40-Hour Workweek under ACA

(Washington, D.C.) The More Time for Full Time initiative, which represents hundreds of thousands of employers and tens of millions of employees, sent a letter to the Senate in support of S. 30, the 40 Hours is Full Time Act of 2015, which moves to restore the definition of a full-time workweek to the traditional standard of 40 hours under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

AH&LA LEADS BROAD-BASED POWER COALITION TO BATTLE PATENT TROLLS

(Washington, D.C. January 15, 2014) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today announced the formation of a coalition, United for Patent Reform. The broad-based coalition is designed to battle "patent trolls", entities that use predatory legal tactics to sue for patent infringement. AH&LA is joined by a number of groups from the hospitality, retail, technology and construction-based industries, among others.

(January 8, 2014) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today praised the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act of 2015, sponsored by Rep. Todd Young (IN-9) and Rep. Dan Lipinski (IL-3). This legislation addresses a flaw in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and restores the definition of full-time employment back to the 40-hours per week which the American workforce has utilized for decades.

AH&LA, as the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, made reauthorization of this critical program one of its top legislative priorities.

This legislation would fix a flaw in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by restoring the traditional definition of full-time employment back to the 40-hours per week which the American workforce has lived by for decades.
